December 13

Testing of teleconference between Loyola - Santa Laurensia teachers

November 2

We attended an all day Professional Learning session to plan the Loyola end of the project today.

October 3 Santa Laurensia School Jakarta

Today we had our first big meeting with all the teacher involved in our project.
Ric thanked Wayan, Julie, Widy and the other teachers for welcoming us to Jakarta and their hospitality. We then discussed aspects of the project. We discussed;

Aims;

  • Intercultural understanding
  • Content for each subject
  • Technology used

Target students

  • Numbers
  • Year levels
  • Groups

When

  • The project should be conducted in 2 to 4 weeks of class time. This is between 6 and 12 hours at Loyola.
  • The dates for the project are April 23 - 18 May 2012.
  • Individual partner teachers should workout the best time for their groups

Art/History - Sharon and Bambang
Humanities - Lauren and Sunu
English - Emily and Josephine, Julianne and Josephine
Indonesian - Louise and Tri

Teachers then went into their pairs and commenced discussion about the projects they would do.

September 26 - October 7

Loyola iDeas team visit Indonesia for visit to Santa Laurensia school.

August 31


Loyola Yr 7 Sustainability and Intercultural Day. Our team put on an ICU activity for our year 7s. It was our first test in developing an ICU activity.

August 24

PL day for Loyola iDeas members discussed ICU constructs with guest Jessica Walton from Melbourne Uni

August 17

Ric and Julianne went to another DEECD inservice to learn about ICU standpoints and constructs. We heard from ACARA on how they are progressing with ICU in the coming Australian National Curriculum

June 6

Ric sent 4 questions to Loyola iDeas teachers for them to answer in relation to their project. The results will be posted shortly.
1 - What are you trying to change?, 2 – How do you plan to achieve it?, 3 – What will students gain?, 4 – What value will you add to system knowledge?

June 15

Ric sent invitations to Indonesian teachers to join the wiki.
Ric posted Loyola's initial ideas for consultation

May 31

Ric to attend the second information session for the Field Trial

Loyola group to meet in the Boardroom to discuss the project and intercultural education.

Ric attended an information session for the DEECD Field Trial for Intercultural Understanding to learn about how to start a 'change team' in the school and how to manage them.

Ric began the Wiki site 'Ideasindaus' to log the project.

Santa Laurensia school visit to Loyola College. We met and began discusions about how we could create an international curriculum project.
